About Necropolis Creep

NecropolisCreep.net is a website dedicated exclusively to cemeteries.  I have been a fan of cemeteries for as long as I can remember and whenever I come across a modern – or better yet, historic necropolis in my travels, I feel compelled to stop and investigate.  I have discovered you can learn a lot about a community by spending some time reading tombstones in the local cemetery.

I also feel we could all do a lot to improve our lives and society in general if we regularly spent a little time in random cemeteries to get the idea that “no one gets out alive”.

Mull that over for a minute or two…

I’ve been photographing cemeteries ever since my dad took me to our family cemetery in very rural southern Virginia. I then traveled to Europe and continued photographing graveyards. When I would visit home, in Rochester, NY, I loved going to Mount Hope and Holy Sepulchre for hikes and photography, especially after a snow. I’ve lived in NY, MD, and TX and still enjoy visiting those almost forgotten cemeteries and preserving them in black and white. Thank you for your blog and website!
